During your visit it's worth trying some of the local specialties such as saffron cheese bread, handmade pasta (Balothia), melitera, sweet cheese pies with eggs and mizithra, stuffed vegetables, sesame buns in the shape of walnuts and local honey mixed with peeled almond kernels (koufeto), the simple but delicious sesame mixed with honey and cinnamon (sesame honey) as well as the wonderful xerotigana, honeyed thin dough leaves with sesame or coconut.
